Vertical Sealant best practices

Hello All, Have used lap sealant on the roof many times over many years, but for the vertical seals have only had to touch it up, never a true full length reseal. I noticed that a foam seal around a slide had a factory bead that has separated the entire length and I'm considering hitting a few other areas while I'm at it. I have the non sag clear RV sealant to use, but I assume I should clean the old first. Mineral spirits? Something else? Also, what is the best way to remove old silicone? There are a few vertical spots where silicone was used and as we all know, nothing will stick to that. It needs a new bead. What is the best way to remove silicone? Thanks!

RE: Niagara

Give Sherskton Shores a try. Only about 20 minutes to the falls. Great RV Resort with a water park, multiple pools, private beaches, restaurants, etc. We had a blast there with our kids. www.sunoutdoors.com/ontario/sun-retreats-sherkston-shores Sherkston Shores RV Resort, 490 Empire Road, Sherkston, Ontario. L0S 1R0 (905) 894-0972 Thanks all for the suggestions, we will look at them all! Regarding Sherskton, this jumped out at me during google searches and as nice as it looks, Sun is killing me with these $200+ per night camp sites. They are buying everything and the prices are shooting through the roof. I noticed they have availability most weeks through the summer but for a 35' trailer with full hookup it was $240 most nights. Yikes!

Niagara

Looking for suggestions on parks. Family of 5 with kids ranging 6-15. Looking to visit the falls but also want an enjoyable time at the part with a pool and things for the kids. We all have passports so open to US or Canada side. Anyone stay somewhere and love it? Thanks!

RE: Cell repeater suggestions?

Thanks all. Star link seems awesome, but as mentioned, this is for 3 or 4 trips per year. Just trying to boost 1 bar to 3 or 4 for a few days. I read some reviews of a few on Amazon and some love and some hate. Also, some claimed better cell call service but no better data which is really what we need. I'll read about weBoost and the others. Curious, anyone try the "el-Cheapo" $200 options from amazon? Don't need huge sq ft coverage considering we can sit within 10' of the device. Thanks!

Cell repeater suggestions?

Hello all, Looking for suggestions on a cell signal repeater / booster. My wife and I are both able to work from home and sometimes we work from camper. However, some spots we camp have poor cell service and we use our phones as hot spots for our laptops. This past week for example we were in the PA mountains state park and had 1 bar LTE at our site. Good enough to send emails without attachments but not for Teams/Zoom calls or large attachments. Thankfully, we know this state park well and know if we drive up the hill from the campground a bit we can get 3 bars 5G and hold calls fine. I noticed 2 campers with an expandable pole and white antenna that I assume was a cell extender. Trying not to spend a fortune since it will likely be used 2-3 times per year, but let me know if you have suggestions of repeaters that work well. Thanks!

RE: NYC suggestions

Thanks all! I did see the Liberty Harbor park. Would save us tolls but it’s $150 per night. Ok thanks again for the info. I think I have what I need!

NYC suggestions

Hello All- This is a strange one for me as we typically like to camp rural, but for this particular trip I am considering bringing our travel trailer out to long island. Long story short, we will be camping in NE PA in the pocono's and then have a concert at Citi field in Queens right after the trip. My initial plan was to go home and then go to the concert the next day either getting a hotel room or just driving back (3 hours) to home in the Philly area. Now I am considering sticking around for a few days. I am very familiar with driving around the NYC area but have never trailered in that area. I found a few campgrounds on long island that look nice for a few days stay. The route would likely take me from the poconos across 84 and on down to the GW bridge, through the Bronx, Queens, and on down to long island. Going home I would backtrack but then drop to 78 and across to PA. So... all of that said, how crazy is that with a 37' trailer? I would stick to the GW to avoid tunnels and Manhattan all together, but anything else to consider? Anyone do this i the past? I would much prefer having my camper and making a beach weekend out of it but if it's going to be a nightmare I might back out. Thoughts?

RE: Priming the water pump

Thanks all. I have checked to make sure no fittings are obviously loose or have any obvious issues which I can't find. Everything is snug. Must be an air leak somewhere but maybe I'll just try a new pump. Won't be happy if it behaves the same but if they are in the $70 range it's probably worth a try. Thanks!

Priming the water pump

Hello all- We have a 6 year old travel trailer and over the past few years we have had an annoying issue with the water pump that I am getting really frustrated with now. If the unit sits for a period of time with an empty tank, or if we camp with hookups in between outings where we use the tank, I can't seem to get the pump to prime on its own the next time we try to use it. It will turn on with a quiet hum and never do anything. When this happened in the past I used to be able to put my finger or something else in the outside tank vent hole for a minute and then release and that would work but I have not been able to make it work. The only thing I can do, and have been doing, is to disconnect the inlet hose from the pump, put a funnel directly into the pump and pour water in and reconnect the hose. That seems to cause a prime that then works as long as we keep the tank filled and keep using it. Any idea why the pump no longer primes on its own the way it should? Thanks!
